Oakley Church of England Junior School is 50 Years Old!
The school has celebrated it's 50th anniversary with two tea parties for local residents when the children entertained them with music, songs and dance. The children where given a printed bookmark so they will remember this occasion.

The excitement levels reached fever pitch when the Doctor Who crew recently descended on the school accompanied by a full media circus and of course, the Doctor himself, Matt Smith. Read more....

50 Years Old
On 10th January 1962 Oakley Church of England Junior School opened for the first time and on 10th January 2012 we celebrated with a special assembly looking back at life in the 1960s. A special celebration week was held during the week of 28th May.

School Production 2012
One highlight at the end of a very busy summer term has been the school production.  Upper school children entertained packed audiences at three performances.  It was a memorable experience for all involved.

Basingstoke Festival
A number of pupils have taken part in the first Basingstoke Festival which proved to be a very colourful and enjoyable experience for all.

Sports Week
Sports Week was once again a huge success and the children greatly enjoyed many new experiences.  The week was concluded with Sports Day which many parents came to watch.

Red Nose Day 2011
£337 was raised by pupils and staff who ‘dressed funny for money’ in aid of Comic Relief.   The children sported a variety of innovative costumes including pirates, policemen, fairies, pyjama parties and even a couple of Mr Howe look-alikes.   Children learned about the focus of the charity and the people they could be helping during assembly.  The day finished on an exciting note with a wonderful circus display from M. Morette.

Lower School Visit to Hillier Gardens

All the lower school children enjoyed an interesting visit to Hillier Gardens to learn about how plants and animals communicate (in this National Year of Communication). Activities included sign language, semaphore, bee watch and a smelly sock trail!
The sun shone and the gardens were beautiful.

Maths Week 2011

Maths Week 2011 was possibly the most successful yet. The ‘Go for a Million’ activity saw the whole school working together to produce 1,000,000 tally marks, certainly an impressive sight in Friday’s assembly!

The Mayor's Concert

"The Mayor’s Charity Concert went swimmingly.  The choir sang their hearts out and tried their hardest to impress the Mayor (which I think they did)."

Year Six Visit to Sparsholt

Year 6 studied micro-organisms during their day out at Sparsholt College.

"We enjoyed stroking the piglets. They shivered when they came out of their heat lamp. I saw one sneeze. It was a great trip."

Upper School Visit to Milestones Musuem

"My favourite thing was dressing up. We were allowed to get some old style sweets and I got lemon sherberts. We also played a game called 'Who's Who' where we had to smell stuff that Victorians would have smelled."

'Pop Connection' Concert

Pop Connection was a great success with virtually all the pupils taking part at St Leonard’s Church.  It was a joint venture with the Church and everyone involved thoroughly enjoyed the experience.  Memories are relived through the CD that sold one hundred and sixty copies.
